BOEOTIAN DANCER

Bakst’s costume design for the Young Boeotian Dancer in the 1911 performance of Narcissus bursts across the paper with a sense of joyful freedom, while his use of earthy colours suggests an invigorating connection with nature and celebration of the harvest.

This design develops Bakst’s arcadian colour palette, with its Mediterranean warmth and vitality, using the leaf-like, rhythmic embroidery motifs to trail around the edges of the pillowcases. Looking to the classic art of Ancient Greece for its ornamental elements, it manages to simultaneously appear elegant and modern.

Bed linen sets are available as a combination of two contrasting colours, or monochrome options.
